Russia has imposed a 15% tariff on aluminum exports

      According to foreign media reports, confirmed from the Russian government news service, this year from August 1 to December 31, Russian production of aluminum will be subject to 15 percent export duties, aluminum per ton plus 254 dollars.

      On June 25, 2021, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishuktin signed a formal decree authorizing export duties on 340 types of non-ferrous metals and steel products.Raw aluminum under Customs Code 760110 will also be taxed.Products such as aluminum rods, bars and profiles are not included in the list, while certain aluminum alloys are.

       Russia has not been a major supplier of primary aluminum to North America in recent years.In addition, Russia mainly sells value-added aluminum products to this market, while Russia sells large amounts of primary aluminum to Europe and Asia.If Russian aluminum is exported to countries within the Eurasian Economic Union -- Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan -- there will be no export duties.

      On 25 June 2021, the Russian government news service said: "The implementation of the tariffs will make it possible to mitigate the impact of external conditions on the domestic market and to adjust the prices of metals and metal products."
